Is it worth it?

ESO+ is optional. The Elder Scrolls Online is a Buy to Play game. Once you buy the game, you will be able to play the significant amount of base game content and additional content is added to the base game every year. The worth of something is subjective and depends on a person’s financial situation.

  1. If you have the financial means and you are enjoying the game, then ESO+ gives you the most value for your investment. For the cost of 1500 crowns per month, you get all of the benefits listed above.
  2. If you are gaming on a budget or limited play schedule, then you have some options.
    1. Crown Buyer
      1. If you don’t have ESO+ and want to buy some crowns, buy the equivalent about of months of ESO+. You get the crowns and all the benefits for while too. During crown sales, this may not be the best option depending on the amount of crowns you are going to buy.
    2. Feast and Famine
      1. Sign up for ESO+ for a month when a new DLC are released. You get access to the DLC and will accumulate crowns that could be used to purchase your favourite DLC’s.
      2. Unlock the additional inventory/furnishing slots (Crafting Bag, Bank space, Transmutation Crystals) and storage as much as you can before it expires.
      3. If you serve in the Military or carrying a full load of college or university courses, you can cancel the membership until you have more time to play.
  3. If can’t afford ESO+, you can take advantage of the occasional ESO+ trial that is offered from time to time. Important: You need to manually activate your trial.
    1. Log into The Elder Scrolls Online.
    2. Navigate to the Crown Store.
    3. Select the ESO Plus tab.
    4. Select “Free Trial!”
    5. You don’t need to provide credit card or any other account info to check out ESO Plus. All you need to do is go to the in-game Crown Store and activate it
Note: Unlike the paid ESO+ version, the trial does not apply to the account but the server. If you play on both megaservers on the same account, you will have to activate the trial on both.

Making the Most of Your ESO+

Anxious to make the most of your ESO+? Here is one of the most extensive lists of ESO+ tips.

Craft Bag

Logon to all your characters.

Note: To automate the transfer of craft items to your Craft Bag, turn on 'Auto-Add to Craft Bag' in the 'Items' section of the Gameplay Settings.

When you log into the game with a Craft Bag, your crafting materials are instantly moved to the bag, and they are automatically removed from the bag when crafting. To access your Craft Bag, navigate to the Craft Bag icon while viewing your inventory.

Crafter? Stock up on crafting writ supplies such as basic style stones and crafting materials (cloth, hide, ingots, runes, reagents, etc.).

Housing fan? Stock up on furnishing materials

Double Bank Space

Dump some of those items that are choking your inventory into the additional bank slots.

If you choose to cancel your ESO Plus membership, your bank space will revert to the standard size. You will not lose any items that put you over the bank storage cap, but you will not be able to store new items until space is available.

Progression Bonuses

Logon to all your characters to refresh / reduce their crafting research timers (if you have not already.)

Take advantage of the bonuses to Experience Gains, Crafting Inspiration Gains, and Trait Research times. Get ESO+ during double experience point events to maximize your experience gain.

Provisioning Leveling

Furniture Space

Go on a buying or crafting spree and go on a housing decorating binge.

If your membership is no longer active, the items will remain in your homes, but you will not be able to add new ones until you are back under the furnishings cap

Costume Dying

Up your fashion endgame and hit the outfitting station to customize your costumes.

ESO Plus members have the exclusive ability to dye their costumes at dye stations, allowing you to truly show off your unique style. (It’s a surefire way to get whispers of adoration.)

Non-ESO Plus members are only able to dye regular pieces of armor. If your ESO Plus membership is no longer active, your costumes will remain dyed.

Double Transmutation Crystals

If you have several geodes clogging your inventory, open a few to free up some space and benefit from the increased cap.

If you lose ESO Plus membership, you are able to retain or spend any crystals you have at the time, but you will not be able to acquire new ones until you are back under your normal limit.
