ESO W2T: Resuming Your Adventures

With a limited quest journal, a staggering amount of things to do, and being able to do content in any order in The Elder Scrolls Online, players will inevitably lose track of their progress or need help resuming their adventures.

If you are new to The Elder Scrolls Online or you have not played it in a while, this is the guide for you.

In this guide, I will help you get back to adventuring where you left off. We will look at resuming your existing journal quests, completing zones activities, and tackling those grueling fishing achievements. The latter may be why you stopped playing the character or game last time.

Journal Quests

Clearing out your existing quests is as good place to start. To find out where to go next in a quest, complete the following steps

  1. Open your quest journal
  2. Select the quest
  3. Select “show on map” from the menu

The quest location will soon display on your screen. You may want to zoom out to see the location within the quest zone.

Zones

Introduced with Update 21 (Wrathstone), the Zone Guide helps players resume the zone main storyline quests and four featured achievements for the zone.

Zone Guide Example (PC) – The Reach (Markarth)
Zone Guide Example (Gamepad) – The Reach (Markarth)

Accessing the Zone Guide

You can access the Zone Guide from the Group & Activity Finder (PC/Mac P key by default) or from any overland zone map (PC/Mac M key by default) . When you collect start or continue, the next location will be displayed on your map.

The zone guide displays up to 4 featured achievements for the zone along with your completed and uncompleted activities for the following:

  • Main Story Quests
  • Wayshrines
  • Delves
  • Group Delves
  • Points of Interest
  • Striking Locales
  • Set Stations
  • Mundus Stones
  • Public Dungeons
  • World Events (Dark Anchors, Abyssal Geysers)
  • World Bosses
  • Skyshards*
  • Shalidor’s Library Books*

Notes:
*You will not be guided to the locations of Skyshards or Shalidor’s Library Books.

From the Zone Guide, you can press a button on the bottom of the screen to guide you to the location of your next uncompleted activity from the ordered list above (excluding Skyshards and Shalidor’s Library Books).

You can reset the Zone Guide by selecting ‘Stop Tracking’ from the menu.

Angler Achievements

One of the most time consuming achievement in The Elder Scrolls Online is the Master Angler title, which unlocks a fishing boat achievement furnishing and the title Master Angler. Your progress towards master angler and other angler achievements is tracked in the Achievements Section of your journal.

Check out my ESO Uncommon and Rare Fish Guide for Master Angler Wannabes

Base Game

The base game fishing achievements are found at the following location

  • Exploration > Fishing

Chapters / DLC Zones

Each chapter / DLC fishing achievements will be found in their achievement section under the General subcategory.

Examples

  • Blackwood > General > Blackwood Master Angler
  • Greymoor > General > Western Skyrim Angler
  • Markarth > General > The Reach Angler

The journal will list all of the achievement fish, the water type, and which ones are outstanding.

If you are on PC, the Rare Fish Add-on will be very help in helping track your progress.

Add-ons

Here are a few add-ons I have found that help with quest tracking.

Summary

In this guide, we looked at the “show on map” feature in the quest journal, the zone guide (Keyboard and Console), and looked at where to find our fishing progress in the journal’s achievements section.

Armed with this knowledge, it will be easy to pickup your adventures where you left off.

I hope you found the information useful and if you missed anything, you can find a written guide version of this video on my website. There is a link in the description.
