Introduction
Crafting is a key part of the Tamrelic economy. The target audience of the guide are non-crafters looking to commission a crafter to make some equipment and the master crafter wanting a reference for potential customers. If you are looking for potions, poisons, or enchantments, please refer to my other guides.

The Essential Elements of a Crafting Order
Due to the all of the possible variations in playstyle, many crafters shy away from vague crafting orders like “best damage-dealer” or “best tank” gear. Orders will be completed faster and cheaper if you know exactly what you want and have the materials in hand when you place an order.
The following decisions have to be made and told to the crafter
– slot of the item (helm, shoulder, bow, 1H Sword, 2H Mace, etc.)
– level of the equipment (determines materials and quantity)
– the “weight” of the armor (Light, Medium, Heavy)
– the motif (appearance) desired (if item for research, not required)
– the desired trait (intrinsic properties of the item, listed below, research items trait is required)
– the crafting set name (consult the Crafted Set List to find a preference and the number of “traits” required to make the item)
-the quality of the item (white, green, blue, purple, or gold
Level

Level determines the refined materials needed to make your item. The tables below identify the materials needed for equipment (weapons, armour, shields).
Note: With OneTamriel, it will be more difficult for max level crafters to maintain an inventory of materials other than the first and last tier of materials. It is highly recommended to obtain your materials prior to commissioning your work with a crafter.

Crafting Sets
Crafting sets were designed by master crafters that were able optimize the functionality and bonuses by equipping additional gear items of same set. Each set has a minimum number of researched traits required for the desired item being crafted. The number varies between two and nine.
A complete list of crafted sets and their stats for level 10, CP10, and CP160 can be found in my tome on crafted sets.
